Information for Posting an email, searching for officials, etc.
One of the great benefits of the GWOA's website is the email system to help cover games as you have a need arise. Our system emails all paid members at the same time in order to cover a date, or make an announcement.
As the email system first began, Past President Kurt McAfee would forward emails for people to help them. This quickly became a very time-consuming task, and helped lead to the GWOA's new system and website.
The nice part of the system is, you can use it from anywhere you have internet access, even on your phone. Or, if you are in a bind, you can easily phone a friend and walk them through your log-on and have them quickly do it for you.
A few reminders:
I do not post emails for people to cover games, as I don't have the time to do it for everyone. Only if you are in a last-minute, I will help out if needed, but please don't contact me to email out a date for you that is 2 days or 2 weeks down the road. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time for it.
MOST IMPORTANT DETAIL: Once you log-in, you must go to "MY ACCOUNT" and click on FORUM, and SUBSCRIBE to the sports you want to receive emails from, including the Rules Discussions and the Market Place. This insures that only those that want emails about the given sport will receive them, eliminating unnecessary emails to many members.
If you are not receiving emails, you need to check your service and see if you perhaps have a block, or it is directing emails from the GWOA into your SPAM filter.
To post an email: Go to OFFICIALS NEEDED, click on the sport you desire, click on NEW THREAD, and type your information. Make sure you put your email address and phone #'s in order to be contacted. You can not reply to the email that is sent, as it does not direct it to the sender.
HUGE REMINDER: Only click send ONE TIME. The server takes a minute or two to process the send request. if you hit it multiple times, you will send that many emails, again potentially creating a spam block.
Many of your questions can be answered by looking into the FAQ section, it gives great detail on how to best utilize the system.
Hope this information helps! Good luck in your officiating endeavors, and as always, drive safe!
